Permanent sculptures
Haderslev, Denmark 1992. Stoneware and painted concrete. Length 16 m.

The West Port stands in a clearing just south of the Ribe road. In spite of its proximity to the town, there are no houses visible round the clearing seen from the road. The site is light and lyrical – in total contrast to the sites of the two other ports, with their complex townscapes with bupass feeder roads.
To emphasise the character of the site the sculpture is recumbent, long and low, a ship-like bastion. In the middle is an almond-formed arched grass mound. At each end, a bifurcated tower.
